Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 1, 2026 · Last updated: June 1, 2026
Brewpin ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Brewpin mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
1. Information we collect
We collect only the information needed to provide the App's features:
- Account information: Your email address and display name, obtained through Google Sign-In or Apple Sign-In during account creation.
- Profile information: A username you choose, and an optional profile photo you upload.
- Location data: The geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude) of pins you create. Location is recorded only when you actively create a pin — we do not track your location in the background.
- Pin content: Beer name, star rating (1–5), optional notes, and optional photos you attach to pins.
- Photos: Images you upload to attach to pins or as your profile photo. These are stored securely and accessible only to you and your accepted friends.
- Push notification token: An Expo push token used solely to deliver in-app notifications (e.g., friend requests, new pins from friends).
- Social graph: The list of users you have added as friends and those who have added you.
- Usage data: Diagnostic crash reports, error logs, and performance data collected via Sentry to help us identify and fix bugs. These may include device information and IP address.
2. How we use your information
All data we collect is used solely to provide and improve the App's functionality:
- Authenticating your account and maintaining your session.
- Displaying your pins and your friends' pins on the shared map.
- Enabling the friends system (search by username, send/accept requests).
- Sending push notifications for social events (friend requests, new pins).
- Diagnosing crashes and errors to improve stability.
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond what is listed above.
3. Data sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only as follows:
- With your friends: Your pins (marked as visible to friends), display name, username, and profile photo are visible to users you have accepted as friends.
- Service providers: We use Supabase (database and storage) and Expo (push notifications). Both act as data processors under our instructions. Sentry is used for crash reporting. We do not authorise these providers to use your data for their own purposes.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to a valid legal request.
4. Data retention
We retain your account and content for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account (via the Profile screen in the App), all your data — including pins, photos, friend connections, and profile information — is permanently deleted within 30 days.
5. Security
Your data is stored on Supabase infrastructure with row-level security policies ensuring you can only access data you are authorised to see. Photos are stored in a private storage bucket. All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Children's privacy
Brewpin is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
7. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Delete your account and all associated data (available directly in the App under Profile → Delete Account).
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Data portability (receive a copy of your data in a machine-readable format).
To exercise any right not available directly in the App, contact us at ibraslnn@gmail.com.
8. California residents (CCPA)
We do not sell personal information as defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act. California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect and to request deletion. Please contact us to make such a request.
9. International transfers
Your data may be stored and processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your data to these locations.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, through an in-app notice. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
